Genea’s new IVF clinic and laboratory consolidates three separate tenancies into one unified space within the Wollongong Private Hospital. Across a 13-week delivery programme, our team navigated existing structural constraints alongside the precise requirements of a specialist IVF environment. Delivering a distinct facility that reflects both the local coastline and Genea’s commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care.
Ductwork, an inaccessible balcony, and the integration of specialist laboratory infrastructure meant that every design decision had to work harder. Rather than fighting site limitations, our team worked within them. Repurposing the balcony to house a plant room and preserving ocean views wherever the fabric of the building allowed. The reception and waiting area sits at the heart of the clinic, zoning consulting and diagnostic rooms away from the staff, laboratory and collection areas. Allowing for optimal circulation, patient privacy and efficient clinical workflows.
Throughout, the interior vision draws its identity from Wollongong’s coastline and invites the outside in. Curved walls, sandy textures, and a considered neutral palette create an atmosphere that feels warm and distinctly local. The result is an environment that reflects both the local coastline and Genea’s commitment to compassionate, patient-centred care.
