Capecare provides home and community care, residential aged care services and retirement living for people across the South West as they age.
With the help of ACCAP funding, Capecare engaged Interite to upgrade the Rosa Brook Wing within their Busselton Residential Care facility, so they could better support residents living with dementia and changes in cognition. The existing wing presented a number of challenges, including disorienting wayfinding, non-compliant materials, and poor acoustic performance.
Interite delivered a comprehensive design, project management, and construction solution across the full wing, encompassing twenty resident rooms and ensuites, communal living spaces, and a contemporary dining and kitchen facility. Dementia-informed design principles guided every decision, from materials selected for appropriate LRV values and improved acoustic performance, to memory-supportive elements and a considered colour palette that accounts for changing cognition and vision. The result is a space filled with comfort and clarity by supporting independence, reducing confusion and enhancing the quality of care for every resident who calls it home.
