Your Questions,
Answered.

How do you ensure your day hospital design and construction projects comply with relevant healthcare and industry regulations?

Our experienced team has a deep working knowledge of the compliance landscape governing day hospitals in Australia. During Day Hospital design and construction, Our team leverages specialist health architect, engineering and consulting network from early feasibility right through to completion; ensuring every aspect of the project complies with the Department of Health and Aged Care, AusHFG, state health department licensing, and the National Construction Code for class 9a facilities.

As a proud member of Day Hospitals Australia, we also stay at the forefront of regulatory changes, sector standards, and best practice guidelines that directly impact facility design and construction.

How do you deliver cost-control for day hospital projects?

Cost certainty is central to everything we do in day hospital design and construction. From the outset, we establish detailed budgets, conduct thorough cost analysis, and track expenditure throughout the project, with clear, transparent reporting at every stage so you're never caught off guard. Our active pipeline of day hospital projects gives us real-world benchmarking data and our extensive experience means we understand where costs typically arise in day hospital environments and proactively manage them to maintain budget certainty. We also apply value engineering solutions during design development, resolving potential issues early and eliminating the risk of costly rework in day hospital projects.

How do you handle unexpected challenges that arise during the project?

Our robust risk management framework allows us to anticipate challenges and plan solutions ahead of time. We conduct thorough risk assessments during early feasibility stages, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues before they arise. Combined with our extensive experience in day hospital and licensed health environments, this helps reduce disruptions to the construction programme and manage unforeseen challenges across site constraints, long-lead times for FF&E and licensing and accreditation requirements.

For examples of our approach to complex licensed facilities, see Linear Clinical Research  and Jolimont Day Hospital.

How do you approach project management in complex, regulated environments?

Our project management approach for day hospitals is built on clear transparent communication, structured workflows, and a bespoke construction methodology which has been honed from 40 years' experience. We use proven systems and tools (including Procore®) to track progress, manage coordination and proactively keep all stakeholders aligned. This ensures complex, regulated environments such as day hospitals, are delivered efficiently, even where multiple layers of regulatory, design and construction complexity is involved.

How do you manage communication between stakeholders to ensure timely completion of day hospital projects?

As a single-point-of-contact for day hospital projects, key stakeholder collaboration is central to our process. We maintain open and consistent dialogue with key stakeholders through regular project control group meetings, detailed reporting, defined approval pathways and real-time tracking in Procore®. By remaining aligned throughout, we ensure our day hospital projects maintain momentum and are completed on schedule.

Can you help me design and construct a day hospital to accommodate future expansions or changes in technology/healthcare practices?

Yes! We design day hospitals with flexibility in mind, allowing facilities to adapt to evolving healthcare delivery models, new technologies and changing patient needs. This includes planning for adaptable clinical spaces and infrastructure that can support future upgrades with minimal disruption.

Our article on high-performing healthcare facilities in 2026 explains why long-term operational performance is now a core investment metric, and our Day Hospitals work shows how that translates into built form.

How do you incorporate the latest technologies and specialised equipment into your designs for day hospital facilities?

Theatre and procedure room fitouts in day hospitals involve highly technical equipment integration. To ensure our designs are equipped with the latest, cutting-edge technology, we collaborate with industry leaders and suppliers, and continually invest in our own research, to deliver spaces that sit at the forefront of medical advancement. This integrated approach eliminates expensive design changes during construction and reduces commissioning delays at handover.

Can you provide day hospital references from Australian healthcare operators or investors?

Yes, we are proud of the work we have delivered for some of Australia's most recognised day hospital operators and healthcare networks. This includes Ramsay Health Care, Jolimont Day Hospital, Montserrat Day Hospitals  and Linear Clinical Research.

Our healthcare project portfolio spans private day hospitals, clinical trial facilities, IVF day surgeries and specialist procedure centres, providing prospective clients with directly comparable reference points for their own facility type and scale.

How do you address environmental sustainability and energy efficiency in your day hospital designs?

Sustainability is a core element in all of our designs. We prioritise eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable practices and believe good design does more than simply meet environmental standards. Energy-efficient day hospital design has to balance sustainability with clinical performance. In practice, that means zoned HVAC strategies, efficient plant selection, durable low-maintenance finishes, LED lighting, low-VOC materials and lifecycle thinking, while still protecting infection control and theatre performance. We aim to continually learn and adjust our processes in accordance with emerging technologies and clinical evidence, while encouraging environmental stewardship and community well-being through our work.
